Blahgging It

I wonder why I blog on the weekends.

Sure I am participating in NaBloPoMo but Geoff is in the living room playing guitar, Phoebe was laughing at everything tonight and we're just enjoying our free time together on a nice fall evening.

We had a typical day of Costco and what-not. Steak, green beans, "scalloped" potatoes (chicken broth instead of cream - SO GOOD!) and red wine for dinner.

The ladies at Costco told us how pretty our baby is and we said "Thank you" graciously, all the while knowing they were absolutely right.

What more can I say? Life is good.

I'll leave you with the recipe for the potatoes, taken straight from Gourmet magazine.

Potato Casserole

Serves 4 to 6

* 2 lb boiling potatoes
* 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
* 1/2 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth

Equipment:
an adjustable-blade slicer

Preheat oven to 425°F with rack in middle.

Peel potatoes and thinly slice (about 1/16 inch thick), then toss with butter, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Spread evenly in a 2-quart shallow baking dish and add broth. Cover tightly with foil and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until top is well-browned and most of stock is absorbed, 30 to 35 minutes more.

Sounds delish! BTW your brother was our waiter at Frugatti's last night. Ginger, Mindy, Kristi and me. I'm sure he thought we were a bunch of drunk old ladies.
