Is 11 a.m. too early for gin?

The pumpkin pie crusts have been burned.

The family have already flaked on today's 2 p.m. "dinner" time.

Geoff is napping.

Baby is crying.

And I'm still recovering from my hangover.

And yet everything seems okay. I'm going to have stuffing and gravy and green beans and scalloped oysters (family recipe involving oysters, saltines, butter, half and half and worcestershire).

At some point today, my brother will show up at my mom's and we'll commence drinking.

Last year I was barely recovering from morning sickness and this year I am ready to eat and drink the way God intended on Thanksgiving.

And for that I am thankful.

Drinking has never been a big thing in my family's Thanksgiving celebrations.. I think I need to change that.
