Jack Michael was born June 18 at 8:19 a.m., 9 lbs, 9.5 oz (I'm counting that .5) and 23" long.

No drugs, no needles, and no tearing (I gotta brag about that one -- even the midwife couldn't believe it).  Labor was ... really mild for the most part.  We got to the hospital at 8 p.m. on Thursday, after celebrating Phoebe's birthday.  I was having (mild-moderate) contractions about 4 minutes apart for a few hours and not a whole lotta progress, so at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, the midwife broke the amniotic sac (which was quite strong -- something we learned once everyone could inspect it) and Jack was born 45 minutes later.

Geoff helped catch and he cried as he told me it was a boy.

It was an absolutely amazing experience.  I can't wait to write more about it later.

As for now ... Jack is voraciously nursing (he started about 30 minutes after he was born and I swear to you he has barely stopped since).  Phoebe is in love (and so are we).

Geoff says he has a James Cagney face.

Geoff picked us up and we came home with Jack on Saturday evening and I felt so good we went to church on Sunday morning.  Going to church on Father's day, holding my 2 day old son, and sitting next to my (amazing) husband was just ... beyond words.

I am over the moon right now in love with everyone.

Phoebe can't stop giving her little brother loves and in fact when we went to church yesterday, she didn't even grab her doggie or her juice cup -- she just walked out the door, making sure I was carrying Jack behind her and that we weren't leaving him behind.

This summer is going to be taxing (the nonstop nursing has slowed now that milk has come in, but man that kid can eat) but really fun.

I hope I remember to set aside the time to write about it.

*Thank you to Katie DiSimone for the pictures of a 9 hour old Jack - the top one is just a preview and I can't wait to see more
